Wellness Exams
Cat & Dog Exams & Wellness Care
At Kronenwetter Veterinary Care, we take the time to thoroughly discuss your pet’s health. We know you love your companion and we treat them like they’re our own; that’s why we take double the time for new patients at our hospital. Pet wellness care is the perfect time to become better acquainted and learn about any of our other services. We’ll perform routine care, like cat and dog exams, vaccinations and check for parasites. Catching potential medical issues before they become a problem is the goal of pet wellness care and we encourage you to bring your pet in at least once a year for some TLC.
Bringing Your Cat or Dog in for Wellness Exams
Animals age faster than we do, and routine care helps keep them happy and healthy for years to come. If you struggle with bringing your cat in regularly, ask us about how we make veterinary visits less stressful on them. As a certified Cat Friendly Practice, we can offer pointers on how to transport them and our staff members are trained in fear-free handling techniques.
Our complete examination checks for any issues in your pet, including:
- Tartar build-up
- Irregular lumps and growths
- Dandruff and other skin problems
- Unusual weight loss or gain
- Runny nose and eyes
- Irregular heart rate
- Abnormal body temperature
- Achy or low functioning joints
During your pet’s wellness care visit, we may become alerted to possible underlying conditions. We have complete diagnostic capabilities in the form of digital X-rays, ultrasound and laboratory services to give you answers about your pet’s health right away. Senior pets, ones over the age of seven, should visit us twice a year, so we can run routine bloodwork. Older pets are even more likely to rapidly develop medical issues, and bloodwork is necessary to check for things like diabetes, thyroid problems and kidney disease.
Learning How to Best Care For Your Four-Legged Friend
Pet wellness care is also a good time to learn about any of our other services and receive valuable nutritional and behavioral counseling. Our skilled team of veterinarians can advise you on things like nutritional supplements, daily teeth cleaning, and the best time to spay or neuter your pet. Some pets benefit greatly from eating a prescription diet and we have many available at our clinic, including Hills Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina. Ask us about prescribing your pet a high-quality diet.
We understand every patient has different needs, so wellness care is as individual as your pet is. Please ask as many questions as you’d like, and let us know about any changes you may have seen in your pet. At Kronenwetter, we listen and we care for pets like they’re our own.
